"Something like this is reward for the amazing amount of hard work by many adults and, of course, our fantastic children.

"Every member of this school is valued and has an important part to play in ensuring the continued success of the school.

"We work as one, and the time, energy, passion and dedication of the whole team is quite exceptional.

"We have come a long way and while we are, of course, delighted, as in any school there are still things to do at this very exciting time in education. We look forward to the future and have exciting plans to ensure that even in a small village school we are reaching and aiming for excellence at all times.

"I believe we are well placed to meet the needs of all learners. Every single child has a personalised timetable – it's hard work but the most rewarding job in the world when you see the minute-by-minute changes for these delightful children," she said.

St Issey is a Church of England school and is also inspected by a team from the Diocesan Board of Education. It gave the school a judgement of outstanding.

“I saw the word "ethos" quoted by the report and it sent a chill into my bones. And lo and behold I read further down and it's a religious school.
When can we eventually separate encompassing faith from education, and stop this abuse of childhood?”
