Downderry school moves pupils out to repair flood damage
Flood damage at a Cornish primary school will mean a disruption to the start of term next week.
All but one of the rooms at St Nicolas Church of England School in Downderry were flooded following the landslip which affected the village on December 22. As a result it has been decided that for the majority of pupils, the start of the new term will be on Wednesday, January 9, although some areas which require new carpeting and fixtures will remain out of bounds.
However, children in class 1, the reception class, will temporarily be relocated to St Nicolas Church while repairs are carried out to a classroom floor.
The pre-school will continue to run for their normal sessions alongside the reception class in the church.
