School play area has wow factor
THE Porthleven community has rallied round to provide a new play area at the school with a "wow" factor.
Led by the school's parent teachers' association (PTA), a busy year of fundraising has resulted in the new distinctive "organic"-designed play area.
PTA chairman, Nina Williams, said: "Our team has been extremely busy this year fundraising for various treats at the school.
"Our main focus was for an organic-designed playground with a local company providing an exceptional resource for our children."

She said local man Darren Searle's company, Countryside and Garden Services, designed the playground, focusing on using local natural products, some donated by The National Trust Penrose Estate.
She said Mr Searle and his team worked throughout Cornwall designing playgrounds and landscape gardening.
"We thank them for giving us a 'wow' playground.
"Our PTA have so many people to thank for their kind support and generosity.
"Local businesses within Porthleven, the gig club, surf club, cellar charity shop, local council and scores of parents and families have contributed to work together for our local school."
The PTA thanked them all and are now looking forward to the next project in 2013.
The play area was opened by Damelza Storbeck, of Porthleven Holiday Cottages and Harbour and Dock company, and Councillor Andy Wallis. Mrs Williams said they had both greatly supported the project.
During the event, the school's Charlene Bastedo orchestrated the children from her Sing and Sign choir with the event taking place after the children's sports day.
