Sea shanty festival's programmes will raise funds for RNLI's work
Voices are being warmed up for the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival in support of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
The event has attracted 30 groups from the UK, Germany, Norway, Holland and France this year and there will be another appearance by Cornwall's hugely popular Fisherman's Friends, who wowed the crowds on the final day last year.
It starts tomorrow evening, with the groups arriving at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall and then moving on to Falmouth's Custom House Quay for the official opening ceremony at 6.30pm. After that performances will continue at venues throughout the town over the weekend.
Chairman Richard Gates said: "I would recommend that people buy a programme as quickly as they can when they arrive at the festival as these contain lots of useful information about the venues, the groups and the words to some of the more popular shanties.
