A LONG SERVING and much loved Cornwall councillor was found dead yesterday, reportedly during her milk round near St Martin-in-Meneage on The Lizard. Pam Lyne was the longest serving member of Manaccan Parish Council and had worked as a councillor for 40 years. The ward councillor for St Keverne and Meneage, Mrs Lyne was also once a Cornwall Council Cabinet member for the economy and chairman of planning at Kerrier District Council. She spoke on a number of issues, including the Stadium for Cornwall, as well as giving her monthly report as Cornwall councillor for the area. Grace Hatton, clerk to Manaccan Parish Council on the Lizard, first met Mrs Lyne when she became council clerk nearly 30 years ago. The two set up a computer training centre in Manaccan in the mid-1990s. She said: "I was very sorry to hear the news. This will be a great shock to everyone." A statement on Cornwall Council's website read: "The Council is sad to announce that sadly Councillor Pam Lyne passed away on 27 June. She will be missed by both her fellow members and officers alike."
