Shoeshine man gives £131,000 to hospital
A shoeshine man has given a Pittsburgh children's hospital more than $200,000 (£131,000) in tips that he has collected over 30 years. Albert Lexie has shined shoes for five dollars (£3.30) at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh since the 1980s. He said most customers tip him a dollar. WTAE-TV said Mr Lexie gives all his tips to the hospital's children. Dr Joseph Carcillo said Mr Lexie has donated more than a third of his lifetime salary to the Free Care Fund, which helps parents who cannot afford children's medical costs. Mr Lexie said: "It's good to be a hero."
