ALMOST daily during my work for animal welfare I hear of the most hideous acts of cruelty which bring shame upon mankind.

So it was reassuring to see in the Western Morning News (February 11) the image of firefighter David Tree sharing his bottle of water with an injured koala bear during the recent Australian bushfires.

Thank you for publicising the action of this compassionate man, which I am sure has touched the hearts of many of your readers.
