Skipper rescued as yacht runs aground
A lone skipper was rescued from his yacht in the early hours of yesterday morning after it ran aground on rocks at Par in mid Cornwall. Falmouth Coastguard said it was "overwhelmed with 999 calls" from members of the public reporting red flares from the 26ft (8m) Osprey. The yacht had run aground on Killyvarder Rock at the entrance to Par harbour. The skipper was not injured and his vessel was towed into Fowey by the local lifeboat in the early morning.
