Soap design team cleans up at school's version of Dragons' Den
HAYLE Community School pupils have staged their own version of the hit BBC TV show Dragons' Den.
Students in Year 8 were invited to come up with an innovative product which would appeal to tourists and could be sold in shops and attractions around the town.
They were asked to form a company which could either be one pupil or a group.
The aim of the competition was to pitch their idea for a product to the 'Barracudas' to gain venture capital for their company.
The winning company was that which achieved the highest investment and was rewarded with £150.
Of the 11 companies who entered, six where chosen to present to the Barracudas in the school's international room which had a live video link to an audience in the main hall made up of parents, staff, governors and community guests.
Karen Burton from the school said: "The evening was highly exciting and enjoyed by all.
"The winning company, 'Artisan' comprising Holly and Maisie, had designed and made gift soaps which had a picture of Hayle within them.
"All pupils who took part found the experience of Barracuda's Bank truly inspirational. The event helped to develop commerce and entrepreneurial skills and gave pupils a real insight into the world of business."
