The Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Vase takes centre stage in the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League today with six clubs involved at the first hurdle.

Saltash United have a tough task ahead of them if they are to progress as they travel to Bickland Park to face a Falmouth Town side that won 1-0 at Kimberley Stadium, in the league, just two weeks earlier.

The Ashes will be desperate to put the record straight today but they will be Paul Chuwen and Ross Saint, who are both working, while Steve Sargison is still sidelined with his hamstring injury.

Hendy does have Ben Smallridge back after being given the all-clear for selection for the first time this season, while Matt Cusack has returned from his holidays.

Falmouth will not have midfielder Jimmy Alexander in their squad as he has just signed for fellow Premier Division outfit Tavistock.

There is another all-Peninsula tie at Blaise Park and once again it is between two sides who met in a league game just two weeks ago.

St Blazey beat Dartmouth 4-1 on that occasion but player-manager Glynn Hooper will not be putting too much on that result.

The Green & Blacks have young striker Lewis Vines suspended for 35 days and Ashley Piggott sidelined, but striker Danny Zalick is back from his holidays.

Lance Worthington is hoping that experienced Kevin Causley will be available for the first time this season as his injured knee has finally responded to treatment.

He will also be giving a debut to goalkeeper Lewis Stainer, who has been playing for Castle Carey, and he replaces the injury Nathan Murphy who is likely to be out of action dislocated collar bone for another month.

The other two Peninsula sides might have been lucky enough to draw opposition from other leagues but they both have to travel with Witheridge going to Brislington while Elmore entertain Porthleven.

The Peninsula Premier Division is reduced to six games giving Buckland Athletic the opportunity to increase their lead at the top of the table which they returned to after beating Witheridge 7-0 last Monday.

Torpoint will have to get their feet back firmly on the ground, after Tuesday's FA Cup replay win at Odd Down, when they travel to bottom club Wadebridge while Bodmin Town, who are also through to the next round of that competition after winning at Wellington, travel to St Austell.
