Special event to launch new guide for Newquay shops
A NEW guide to promote Newquay's independent businesses has been published.
The Indies Shopping Guide includes more than 90 listings and covers everything from retro music sellers, charming gift shops and the latest in surf and skate fashion.
To celebrate the launch Newquay businesses will host special workshops and exclusive offers during a special shopping day on Friday. Shoppers will also be able to park all day for the cost of two hours in selected car parks.
It is hoped that the guide will help local people and visitors alike to shop local and support the eclectic nature of the high street.

Sara Black, owner of the Greyblackwhite exhibition space on Fore Street, said: "Whether you're new to Newquay or have been here your whole life, this guide will reveal some amazing independent shops that you may not have known were part of Newquay's diverse assortment of retailers. We will be making sure we distribute the guides widely to promote Newquay's independents, and encourage people to shop locally."
Five thousand copies of the Indies Shopping Guide have been printed and are available to pick up from many of the town's independent retailers, as well as being stocked in Newquay's Tourist Information Centre.
Alice Beard, marketing and PR assistant for Newquay BID, which is behind the guide, said: "We are delighted with the new publication that is about to launch and hope it follows the success of the food and drink guide, which we have already distributed 20,000 copies of since the launch in 2012.
"The retail forum had a fantastic idea to launch the guide with the event lead day to highlight the huge range of skills and hidden gems that Newquay independents have to offer.
"There is already a huge range of offers and events on Friday, such as demonstrations on how to make your own bunting and hanging baskets, special pamper day offers and exclusive discounts at some of your favourite retailers, cafés and restaurants."
Discounted car parks include Albany Road, Belmont, the Manor, Mount Wise and St Georges. Vouchers can be downloaded from www.newquaybid.co.uk or collected from the Tourist Information Centre on Marcus Hill. This voucher will then need to be displayed in a vehicle next to a two-hour pay and display ticket purchased in one of the above car parks.
The guide is also available to view and download on www.newquaybid.co.uk
