Controversy as ten man Sticker are denied win
Sticker 2, Probus 2
STICKER were left smarting after a couple of controversial decisions saw them reduced to ten men and denied a strong penalty claim in the closing stages.
Sticker took an early lead with a 25-yard shot from Andrew Butler but Probus hit back to equalise through 16-year-old Sam Bullen, who had an excellent afternoon in attack.
There was also an impressive performance by Ben Ringrose, returning after illness for Probus, and the visitors went ahead on the hour through substitute Carl Rickard.
Martin Giles, on as a substitute for Sticker, equalised but was then sent off, apparently for retaliation, when he tried to free himself after being headlocked by an opponent.
Sticker manager Phil Dingle said the club would be making an appeal at that decision.
He was also disappointed at the game being restarted with a dropped ball after what appeared to be a foul on Craig Coad in the penalty area.
MoM: Sam Bullen (Probus).
Elburton Villa 7, St Stephens Borough 0
ST STEPHENS Borough go into the New Year still looking for their first league win of the season following their heavy defeat at Elburton.
A first half hat-trick from Ryan Elliott helped Villa to a 5-0 interval lead against Borough, whose heads appeared to drop after shipping a couple of early goals.
Borough tried to play some good football and created a few chances, particularly in the first half, but could not find the net and will be looking for better things in 2012, starting with Saturday's return clash against Elburton.
Elliott opened the scoring for Villa, who added further goals through Jed Smale and Jacob Smale before Elliott grabbed two more to complete his hat-trick before the break.
There was more of the same from Elburton in the second half as they added further goals from Chris Carter and Dan Squires.
MoM: Ryan Elliott (Elburton Villa).
St Dominick 1, Tavistock 3
ST DOMINICK enjoyed an early breakthrough in a typical local derby on a rain-soaked pitch when the lively Tom Hall pushed the ball past visiting goalkeeper Jamie Castle.
The game began to boil over with a spate of yellow cards and free kicks, culminating in a red card for St Dominick's James Crawford on the half hour.
That ensured it would be an uphill struggle for the Saints and Tavistock equalised on the stroke of half-time when they were awarded a free kick on the right and the ball was cleared to Steve Greenaway, who smashed in a cracking drive.
Kevin Hatch lobbed home goalkeeper Steve Williams to give Tavistock the lead ten minutes after the interval.
Kane Wilson nearly levelled for Saints, but the one-man deficit on the heavy pitch eventually told on St Dominick and Chris Holt struck to clinch a deserved victory for Tavistock five minutes from the end of the game.
MoM: Tom Hall (St Dominick).
Wadebridge Town 0, Bodmin Town 0
BOTH sides were relieved to get back into action again, with Bodmin playing for the second time since the end of October while Wadebridge had been without a game for three weeks.
Wadebridge dominated long periods with Tom Machlachlan having an influential game in midfield.
But, once again, Wadebridge struggled to convert their attacking play into goals, although that was partly due to some good goalkeeping to deny Dan Jennings, Dave Mullis, Ross Welsh and Darren Lang.
It was a welcome away point for Bodmin, who had shipped 16 goals in their last two away games at Probus and Plymouth Parkway.
Even so, Wadebridge were disappointed at being denied all three points when Welsh had the ball in the net only for his effort to be ruled offside. Then the home side were frustrated again when Jennings saw a promising lob rebound off the bar.
MoM: Tom Machlachlan (Wadebridge).
THE four remaining premier division games which fell victim to the weather were: Launceston v Plymouth Parkway, Morwenstow v Bude, Saltash v Bere Alston and Torpoint v Lanreath.
