Spurs raising the bar with success of opening shows
SPURS are enjoying a great start to their new indoor season, holding two bumper shows at Barguse Riding Centre, St Austell.
Committee member and course builder Mike Johns said: "Every new season brings regular and new friends eager to lay claim to a red rosette and a shiny trophy to take pride of place in their home.
"We're grateful to the continued support of our sponsors and thankful to St Austell Trophies for supplying all the awards at our first event. We would also like to thank everyone who came and made our first show of the winter season such an awesome day.
"With the huge success of our opening show we were really looking forward to seeing what was going to happen at our second fixture. With the competition already fierce we knew we had to raise the bar to really challenge our eager competitors."

With the second show generously sponsored by F C Bray & Sons, the lure of the trophies added to the excitement and the first strike went to Isobel Golightly riding Star.
The course-builder upped the anti for the following junior and senior classes over a 2ft 3ins track and with clear rounds setting the scene for a thrilling jump-off against the clock.
Bethany Hull and Solar Eclipse emerged with the top slot in the junior section while Roxy Newstead and She's A Mystery secured the red ribbon in the senior line-up.
The momentum was maintained over the junior and senior 2ft 6ins courses with Mike Johns eager to test the skills of this higher level. He said: "This class climaxed with a very competitive jump-off."
Jess Sandham secured victory with Roisin in the junior section while Hannah Joliffe posted a good win over the senior entry with Pentillie.
The final class was the much anticipated Joker, with the course change starting at 2ft 6ins and the fences progressively rising to the Joker fence standing at 3ft 3ins high with a 3ft 3in spread.
Mike Johns said: "My aim was to test the nerve of the horse and rider and Kathryn Baker rose to the challenge riding Spirit.
"We would like to thank our very generous sponsor F C Bray & Son for supplying all the trophies for the day and we would also like to thank all the competitors and supporters new and old for coming out to support our shows.
We hope everyone had a great day and Spurs look forward to hosting more exciting jumping on Sunday (November 25) at Barguse."
