APPEAL FOR SPONSORS:

A selection of Cornwall's finest young cricketers will be living the dream next year after being picked for the county's U17s tour of Sri Lanka.

The two week trip in February is an official county tour, supported and endorsed by the Cornwall Cricket Board and the Cornwall Schools' Cricket Association. They will also oversee the U13s trip to South Africa at the same time, and the under 15s tour of the West Indies in April.

General Secretary of Cornwall Schools' Cricket Association, Malcolm Broad, said: "The trips will be an amazing experience, both educationally and in cricket terms.

"It is a fantastic opportunity for the young players to see the culture and cricket those countries provide."

Alex May, of Grampound Road Cricket Club, is one of the selected U17s jetting off to Sri Lanka after impressing coaches over the summer.

The Truro College student said: "This is an opportunity of a lifetime, not just for cricket, but also to experience a real insight into the rebuilding of Sri Lanka after the Tsunami in 2004.

"Trips like these don't come around often, and the players have been asked to talk to people and companies for sponsorship.

"Whatever anyone gives counts, from one pound to £1,000, it just gets me that little bit closer to a chance of a lifetime."
