St Agnes Giant Bolster braves the cold to switch on Christmas Lights

VILLAGERS in St Agnes braved the cold for its annual big switch-on of the Christmas Lights and Lantern Festival.

On Sunday (DEC 2) the Giant Bolster and his percussion band led the lantern parade through the village before he switched on the Christmas lights,  including those illuminating a huge Christmas tree in Churchtown.

St Agnes Silver Band played seasonal music, mulled wine was available for the adults with children making the most of a free 'lucky lantern' draw.

The event marked the start of the festive season in the village. Next Thursday (DEC 13) Reindeer will be arriving for its one night only late night shopping event.

Organised by St Agnes Shop Locally Group store will remain open until 8pm offering produce and gifts.

There is a St Agnes Christmas Market at the Miners and Mechanics Institute and a chance to meet Father Christmas and his Reindeer.

Entertainment includes apple bobbing, Christmas fruit art, shortbread decorating, and card making and an opportunity to hunt out the 12 Oggy people in the

Christmas trail.
