St Austell BID manager appointed
A MANAGER has been appointed to oversee the spending of £600,000 to boost St Austell town centre over the next five years.
A Business Improvement District (BID) was voted in by the businesses of the town in January.

They will pay a levy on their business rates, meaning from April 1, £120,000 will be available to spend on projects that the businesses themselves have indicated as priorities to attract more visitors.
This week Myles Ward, from Truro, was appointed to the paid position of BID manager and starts on Tuesday, April 2.

With a 40-year career in the retail sector under his belt, at management and executive level, he has worked for W H Smiths, Woolworths and most recently managed operations and marketing for Tesco in central Europe.
Since retiring in 2011 he has been working for the Royal Cornwall Museum in Truro as head of business and partnerships.
"I am very excited by the BID opportunity for St Austell and look forward to meeting the local businesses," he said.
"It is a major challenge and the successful implementation of the BID projects for businesses and the wider community of St Austell are vitally important for the area.
