St Austell accountant charged with £1m tax fraud
An accountant has been charged with tax fraud thought to exceed £1 million, together with theft and forgery offences. Simon Terry Pearce, from St Austell, faces two counts of cheating the public revenue, 15 counts of fraud by abuse of position, one count of fraud by false representation, one count of obtaining a money transfer by deception, and one count of forgery. The 46-year-old was charged at Newquay police station on Tuesday following an investigation by HM Revenue and Customs. Pearce has been released on conditional bail until November 6 to appear at Bodmin Magistrates' Court.
