Fireman Rob Hosking from Redruth station explained: "There was a small fire in a cooker but because it is a wooden building we also searched for hotspots to make sure the fire had not spread in the building.

"The children were evacuated to a neighbouring school where they will remain until the condition of the nursery is assessed.

"Although it was heavily smoke logged the fire only caused minor damage to the building."
