A REDRUTH man who stole £2,100 from his employers dropped in status from assistant manager to living on the streets.

Andrew Senneck, 33, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to stealing the money from Wilkinsons hardware store in Redruth on August 19 and to a bail offence.

At Truro Magistrates' Court Alison May, for the prosecution, said CCTV showed him putting money in his pocket during a cashing-up procedure. He told police he had done it out of "desperation" to clear debts. His solicitor, Richard Parkhouse, said he had been with the firm for five years.

He had reacted badly after losing two grandparents in quick succession and having a relationship break up. He used the money to pay off an overdraft and took it on the spur of the moment.
