'Miracle' no-one was hurt after two 40ft trees fall into road in Truro
Two 40 foot huge trees have crashed into a road in Truro tonight, causing major delays for commuters.
The trees fell into Tregolls Road in Truro completely blocking traffic into the city.
The first tree came down at around 6pm, leaving massive tailbacks on the road towards Trafalgar roundabout.
The second tree fell down at around 6.15pm.
A wall bordering a house on Spargos Lane collapsed under the weight of the tree.
Vivienne Guest, who lives in the flats where the tree came down said: "I was walking home from work and I could see it so I ran up here and I went round to see if everyone was ok.
"All I could think of was that there would be a car under there but luckily I could see headlights and knew they were further back."
Terry Cullen, caretaker of the nine flats at Rosewarne said: "It was rush hour and it was a miracle no one was hurt because the traffic lights must have been on red.
"That tree could have taken out four or five cars.
"It's a miracle- the tree was meant to be cut on Sunday but the tree feller let us down."
The outbound carriageway was planned to be shut this evening for the trees to be removed.
