Eco-guru and owner of the finest moustache on TV, Dick Strawbridge was in North Cornwall this week filming for his latest TV venture.

The retired army colonel and his son James were in Bude sampling local delicacies for their series The Hungry Sailors.

The pair moored their 65ft cutter in the Bude Canal and attracted quite a crowd.

"They came in at about 8am and word soon got round and there were quite a few people turned up.

"The crew came into the lock and we filled it up with water and then moved into the canal where they moored the boat."

Making sure the filming was seamless took some preparation though, said Mr Vincent.

"We knew they were coming a few weeks ago, so I spent last week with some colleagues freeing up the lock gates.

"They hadn't been used since May and there was a quite a bit of sand down there. It all went smoothly on the day though."
