Super support needed for this year's Cornwall Poppy Appeal
SUPER heroes are being sought to help launch this year’s Cornwall Poppy Appeal.
The Royal British Legion are calling for people all across the county to dress up as superheroes, or villains, and take part in a charity fun run at midnight on Friday October 25 at Ocean Housing in St Austell.
Once underway the brave superheroes will race through and around St Austell as part of either a 5km or 10km run.
But not before being taking part in a warm up session to ensure they are in tip-top condition to take on the fun dash.

Once they complete the Challenge, participants will be rewarded with their very own, prestigious 2013 Superhero medal.
Annie Binding, Community Fundraiser for the Poppy Appeal said: “We hope people will help us to make this a night to remember, not to mention help us to create a fun and lively spectacle in and around the streets of St Austell.
“People dressing up as their favourite super hero, be it Batman, Wonder Woman or Superman, will create a truly hilarious spectacle and add a touch of midnight colour to our streets.
“I am sure this is going to be a fantastic night to remember, and I just know we’ll have a few ‘Jokers’ in the pack.”
To join in, superheroes need to simply register which costs £15 per person or £50 for a team of four or more. Sponsorship is welcomed at whatever they can raise - payable on the night.
In addition to the Super Hero Challenge, apprentices from the Ocean Housing, who are sponsoring the event, have been charged with the design and creation of a huge illuminated, 3D Poppy, to be hung on the outside of the group’s building for the duration of the Poppy Appeal.
Annie went on to say “Having seen the prototype of the giant Poppy I am impressed with the effort and creativity that Ocean Housing Apprentices have shown, as I am sure everyone else will be.
“We are pleased and excited that Ocean Housing is supporting this event for the Poppy Appeal and I am sure it will be a great success.
“The beauty of this fun run is that people can choose their outfit, their distance, and whether they Run, Walk or Jog the course.”
Every single week throughout the year, the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal spends £1.6 million on welfare and support to serving and ex-service community from World War I to the present day.
