FAMILIES taking part in the Ella's Memory Marathon raised £325 in Sunday's event at Boscawen Park bringing the campaign total to £4,000.

Competitors braced icy winds to clock 52 miles walking and running the perimeter of the park.

Truro Rugby Club members ran laps and staff from Truro and Camborne Fire Brigade supported the event by bringing a fire engine and organising a barbecue.

Claire Winkler organised the day after reading about the West Briton-backed Ella's Memory campaign which wants to raise £5,000 to overhaul facilities at the Royal Cornwall Hospital's Daisy Suite, a room used by parents who have experienced the loss of a stillborn baby or premature birth.

Members of the Ella's Memory 200km challenge team are appealing for donations of kit, food and drinks to help them during their non-stop cycle and walk in Cornwall at the end of the month.

Anyone wishing to donate can go to www.justgiving.com/ellasmemory200kmchallenge, or visit the website at www.ellasmemory.org.uk
