Taking steps to raise vital cash for charities
HUNDREDS of fundraisers put their best feet forward for charity as they took part in the Penzance Rotary Ramble.
The annual event is believed to have raised around £10,000, with £3,000 totted up by Rotary Club of Penzance president Anita George alone.
The cash will be split between the club and local and national organisations.
"It was a wonderful day and we are all really pleased," said Jon Symons, chairman of the Rotary Ramble committee.

For every walk, two charities are chosen to receive a share of the funds raised. Farming charity the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) and Cornwall Air Ambulance will reap this year's benefits.
"Farmers are statistically more likely than any other industry to experience serious accidents at work and so know how vital the air ambulance service is to everyone who lives in the countryside," said RABI regional manager Jenni Thompson.
"We are, therefore, very grateful to Penzance Rotary Club for choosing us as one of its charities for this year's ramble."
Walkers could also take on the 4.5-mile route for their own chosen charities. The RNLI at Sennen, St Ives Archive, Children's Hospice South West and Penzance Gymnastic Club are some of those groups also set to benefit.
"This is a classic example of where Rotary can facilitate fundraising for small community groups that probably couldn't stage this kind of event on their own," said Mr Symons.
"It is very important, especially for the smaller groups."
NFU Mutual helped fund Sunday's walk, which started and ended at the Rosudgeon Sports and Social Club.
Mr Symons went on to add that the Inner Wheel Club of Penzance, and Hayle and Mount's Bay Rotary clubs also supported the walk, along with Penzance Coastguard Rescue Team, Penzance and Newlyn Scouts, and St John Ambulance.
