First Tall Ship signs up for 2014 regatta in Falmouth
The first vessel has signed up for the Falmouth to Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta which takes place next year.
Dutch gaff rigged ketch Tecla is expected to be one of up to 30 ships taking part in the event, which is being sponsored by The Falmouth Hotel.
Organisers say there has been a great deal of interest from ships since invitations were sent out.
Sam Groom, festival and events manager for Visit Cornwall, said: "The ships are also attracted by the number of trainees taking part in the race, the crew entertainment and activities that are organised while they are in port and the corporate hospitality opportunities we can offer."

Tecla is a sail training vessel and has competed in previous races in Falmouth.
John Hick, chairman of the Falmouth Tall Ships Association (FTSA) and of the Falmouth Steering Group for the 2014 regatta, recently visited Latvia for the 2013 Batlic Tall Ships Race to encourage ships to sign up to next year's event.
FTSA has been at the forefront of bringing tall ships to the town for more than 20 years and is playing a major role in the 2014 event.
It also hosts visits by the ships outside the regattas and raises funds to support crews as well as running a programme of visits for cadets.
There will be opportunities to take part in the race as trainees and for more details e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
