Teachers call off their three-day strikes at primary school
A three-day strike which threatened to cripple classes at a Cornish primary school has been called off.
Teachers at Heamoor Primary School in Penzance manned the picket lines in freezing temperatures yesterday morning as part of their dispute over excessive workloads.

The walk-out by members of the National Union of Teachers (NUT) was a follow-on from a single day of action last week.
It was designed to be the start of a strike lasting three days, which was due to have been staged again next week and would have seen the majority of classes cancelled.

However, late yesterday afternoon school bosses and the NUT announced that talks brokered by the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) had paid dividends.
In a joint statement, the union and school said: "After meaningful discussion facilitated by ACAS, sufficient progress has been made to call off the strikes scheduled for Wednesday, February 6 and Thursday, February 7, and those scheduled for Tuesday February 12, Wednesday February 13 and Thursday February 14.
"Further talks will take place in the coming weeks to attempt to resolve outstanding issues.
"ACAS will again be assisting with these talks."
