Teenagers push the boundaries in 19th century coming-of-age drama
Icarus Theatre Collective, which has previously visited The Brewhouse with well-received productions of Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet, returns to the Taunton venue in February with a powerful production of a haunting classic play about the terrors of becoming an adult.
Spring Awakening, from which a scene is pictured above, is a translation by Edward Bond of the play by Frank Wedekind first performed in his native Germany in 1906. Set in late 19th century Germany, it explores the sexual awakening of teenagers growing up in a highly religious community.
Spring Awakening is on Wednesday and Thursday, February 6 and 7 February at 7.45pm. Box office: 01823 283244 or www.thebrewhouse.net.
