Thundercats are go on return to region
An adrenalin-fuelled sea race was hailed such a success on its first visit to Cornwall that it will return twice more this year.
This weekend was the first time the Thundercat National Championships had visited Cornwall, but organisers said they received such a warm welcome from Extreme Academy and the Watergate Bay Hotel, near Newquay, that they will return on the weekend of September 15 and 16.
Meanwhile, a collaboration with University College Falmouth, whose students handled press and PR, has led to plans for an event in Falmouth in October.
Event organiser Fiona Pascoe, from St Agnes, said: "All of a sudden we are spending a lot of time in Cornwall, because we love it so much."

The 50 horsepower Thundercat race has traditionally taken place off the Welsh coast, and was last seen in the Westcountry in Torbay in 2010. But Ms Pascoe said they had repeatedly been asked to stage a race in Cornwall, and drivers had raved about how it was "more like a holiday" than an event.
She said: "Thundercat racing is fast and furious, but it's also very spectator friendly. It's held very close to the beach, and it's really wonderful to see how everyone joins in. The public can chat to the drivers and everyone mixes in."
