Thunderstorms leave thousands without power
Heavy thunderstorms left thousands of homes in Cornwall temporarily without power at the weekend.
Thunder and lightning accompanied by sporadic downpours swept across the west of the county on Saturday morning.
Almost 5,000 properties in the Falmouth and Penryn areas suffered power cuts along with homes in St Keverne, on The Lizard, and Redruth.
Commercial Road, in Penryn, was flooded making driving conditions difficult, while the A394 in Helston was blocked in both directions by a fallen tree.

Trains were suspended for several hours between Truro and Falmouth Docks after lightning strikes, although there were no reports of any damage.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service received a "large number of calls" about flooding as well as lightning hitting television aerials.
