Tickets go on sale for Cornwall Film Festival in Newquay
Tickets have gone on sale for this year's Cornwall Film Festival, to be held at the Lighthouse Cinema in Newquay next month.
The festival is an annual celebration of Cornish and international filmmaking. This year 37 new and recent feature films and documentaries from around the world will be screened, including a number of South West premieres.
Among them are Quartet, Dustin Hoffman's directorial debut based in a retirement home for opera singers, and Ben Wheatley's new black comedy Sightseers, which will be followed by a question and answer session with the film's producer Andy Starke.
Although no Cornish feature films were ready to include in this year's programme, local theatre company Miracle Theatre will share some clips from their upcoming feature film, Tin, shot at Krowji in Redruth and telling a tale of 19th Century Cornish Mining

Speaking at the launch of the festival, director Tiffany Holmes said: "This year's festival programme is packed full of both short and feature film screenings and we're thrilled to be hosting several UK and South West premieres.
"The Cornwall Film Festival has grown significantly since it was first established in 2002 and we hope that it will continue to do so.
"The festival was originally set up with the specific intention of supporting Cornish filmmaking and to provide a platform to showcase the work of local filmmakers.
"This is still a core aim of the festival, which continues to champion Cornish filmmaking through the Made in Kernow short film competition and additional Cornish shorts film screenings and by prioritising Cornish feature films."
Screen Actions, an event for young people, also returns to the Cornwall Film Festival this year, in partnership with University College Falmouth and the Cooperative Membership. This takes place at the Lighthouse Cinema on Thursday November 8 from 10am to 3:30pm and offers a range of film and media related activities to suit different age groups.
Professional development workshops, lectures and networking opportunities will run alongside the film screenings.
The 2012 Cornwall Film Festival will take place at The Lighthouse Cinema in Newquay from Thursday November 8 to Sunday November 11.
