Hayle 37, Liskeard-Looe 3

LISKEARD-LOOE suffered a comprehensive defeat this in Tribute Cornwall and Devon League on Saturday as the home side ran in seven tries in testing conditions at the Memorial Park.

Excellent teamwork saw Hyale hooker Neal Turner claim a brace of tries on 12 and 18 minutes, and Liskeard's replacement fly-half replied with a penalty on 30 minutes to reduce the arrears to 10-3.

There were no further scores in the first half, but the home side added five tries in the second half through flanker Tony Matthews, centre Rob Goodman, left wing Tom Murray (2) and right wing Talan Daniels.

The final score would have been much larger had the conditions been more conducive to place kicking, as fly-half Jamie Prisk only managed one conversion from his seven attempts.

Liskeard-Looe will be hoping to bounce back to form this Saturday when they make the trip to bottom of the table Totnes.

Cornwall One leaders Saltash are without a game this Saturday as scheduled opponents second-placed St Just have an RFU Junior Vase tie at home to Salcombe. The game will now be played on Saturday March 24. Saltash hold a nine point advantage at present after St Just closed the gap last weekend by beating bottom side Roseland 40-3. The only other match in the league saw Camborne School of Mines win 10-0 at Stithians.

Saltash played a friendly against St Columba of Devon One and were beaten 12-7.
