Time to take off the 'taches
A GROUP of men in Wadebridge can finally kiss and make up to their partners after shaving off their moustaches.
The men, including the local neighbourhood policing team and mayor Tony Rush, sprouted moustaches last month as part of the global Movember appeal to raise funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

The group in Wadebridge managed to raise £2,000, but now most have been only too glad to shave off their new-found hair.
The moustaches did not find favour with all the men's partners. Sergeant Robin Moorcroft, neighbourhood police team leader for Wadebridge and Padstow, was one of those taking part.

He said: "Most of us were glad to shave them off because partners didn't really like them. Tony Rush's wife wouldn't kiss him, so, to make up, he had to take her out everywhere.
"But it was a lot of fun and the money we raised will go to a very good cause, because prostate and testicular cancer is something that affects a lot of men, and besides, raising money by growing a moustache is a lot easier than running a race where first you have to get fit," he said.
The origins of the Movember charity were in 2004 in Melbourne, Australia, when 30 men decided to grow a moustache for 30 days in order to raise awareness for prostate cancer and depression in men. The group would later become the Movember Foundation charity.
The charity has since raised millions of pounds worldwide.
Movember raised £79.3 million globally during the 2011 campaign, an increase of £30.8 million over the previous year. The 2011 funds were raised by 854,288 participants from around the world.
Of the funds raised in the UK, 88 per cent has been committed to programmes supporting prostate and testicular cancer initiatives, and 12 per cent has gone to schemes run by the Movember Foundation.
