Torchbearers and games makers keep flame alive
Cornwall carved its name into the pages of sporting history when the official countdown to the Olympic and Paralympic Games began last summer.
The world watched as the first of the torchbearers held the iconic flame aloft on its journey from Penzance to London.
At a special ceremony in Truro recently Cornwall Council leaders paid tribute to those who took turns carrying the flame.
Pat Harvey, council chairman, attended the event at County Hall, Truro for a "thank you" reunion held for local torch bearers and the voluntary "games makers" who travelled from Cornwall to help out at the Olympic stadium.

The theme was "Keep the flame burning" and attendees were asked to make pledges to help keep the surge in interest in sport sparked by the Games going in Cornwall.
It was organised with Cornwall Sports Partnership who run the official Olympic legacy programme in Cornwall called "Places People Play."
The scheme allows Cornish sports clubs and groups to apply for grants to encourage young people to get involved in sport.
Mike Thomas, director of the partnership, said: "Although it has been months since the Games closed, the Olympic spirit is very much still alive and has made an incredible impact locally.
"We are therefore delighted to be able to hold this event as a thank-you to all the amazing people who gave up their time to volunteer to make the Games happen and who have contributed to this ongoing energy.
"We are also asking everyone today to help keep the flame burning by becoming a part of Places People Play."
Places People Play is a £135 million countrywide National Lottery programme delivered by Sport England with the British Olympic Association and the British Paralympic Association.
It is backed by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
