Town appeared to be heading for an early exit in the competition as they trailed 2-0 at the interval.
But after neither side were able to score in extra-time, the two sides will have to do it all again on Tuesday, with a home tie against Penzance awaiting the winners.
Mark Chapman gave United the lead in the 29th minute with a brilliant effort into the top corner that gave Town goalkeeper Jason Chapman no chance.
Mark Thorne doubled the visitors' lead after 34 minutes, lobbing the ball over Chapman.
But a spirited second half fightback saw Town reduce the arrears 34 seconds after the break when the impressive Liam Eddy slotted past Paul Hider from Gavin Coulton's excellent threaded through ball.
And the Town comeback was complete with seven minutes remaining thanks to Johnny Ludlam's superb free-kick into the top corner.

“The "headline" and "content" of this article reads very biased towards Falmouth Town.
Saltash United are also based in Cornwall.”
