Town facing 'must win' game already
FALMOUTH Town are facing a 'must win' match on Saturday – only a month into the new Carlsberg South West Peninsula League season.
Town travel to the premier division's bottom club Cullompton knowing they need to collect three points to give themselves some breathing space in the bottom five.
They then travel to St Blazey next Wednesday before taking on leaders Ivybridge Town at Bickland Park on Saturday week, September 21.
On Tuesday night Town slumped to a 5-0 home defeat against newly-promoted Godolphin Atlantic, who moved up to third in the table with that result.
There is a crisis of confidence at Bickland, where eight defeats in nine league games have sent them tumbling in the opening weeks of the season.
Joint manager Gary Pascoe had hoped that the 4-1 victory at Liskeard last Tuesday would spark a change of fortunes for the team, but they have suffered two more defeats.
They came close to bringing something home from Saturday's game at Elburton Villa. Having conceded an early goal, Town dominated the rest of the first half and deservedly equalised through Lee Jeffery.
But Villa stole the points with a winner seven minutes from time.
