The future of a Westcountry town will be put in the spotlight next week when a Question Time-style evening takes place.

Penzance will be the focus of the special event taking place at The Ritz in the town next Thursday.

The topical debate will enable members of the public to quiz a panel of community representatives on some of the burning questions facing the town.

Issues such as the future of the Isles of Scilly sea link, Penzance heliport, supermarkets and empty shops are expected to be raised during the forum.

Politics, education, fishing and farming are also likely to be on the agenda, but the floor is open for people to air anything that is on their mind.

St Ives MP Andrew George, Cornishman editor Jacqui Walls, Penzance town councillor David Nebesnuick, Methodist Minister Julyan Drew and Les Hall, vice-principal of Mounts Bay Academy, will be on the panel and the debate will be chaired by Mike Sagar-Fenton.

Penzance Question Time takes place on Thursday, September 20. Doors open from 7pm, all questions must be in by 7.30pm and the panel will be on stage from 8pm.

Admission is free, though there will be a collection towards the expenses of the Ritz Community Centre, the charity dedicated to saving the old Ritz cinema for the community. All are welcome.
