Travellers at Moresk car park in Truro
TRAVELLERS have set up camp in a car park in Truro city centre.
Vans and caravans are understood to have arrived in the Moresk car park under the viaduct on Monday.
The travellers are understood to be connected to the group that has set up camp in Newham.
Inspector Mark Richards, from Truro police, said: "Any decision as to whether they can stay there is entirely down to the landowner which, in this case, is Cornwall Council."

Cornwall Council said it was aware of the situation at Moresk and said it was legally required to carry out welfare assessments before taking any action.
A council spokesman said: "The group have been informed that they are trespassing and that they are required to purchase the necessary tickets for stationing their vehicles in the car park or face the usual sanctions."

“So they will "face the usual sanctions" for not paying the car park fees then... I bet the travellers are shaking in their boots!
These sanctions would consist of parking charge notices, followed (possibly) by recovery in the small claims court (if the Council will actually bother doing this). We all know there is zero chance of these charges being paid, and good luck to the Council in attempting to recover any money through courts... most of the DVLA keeper names/DoBs are probably false anyway, and as for addresses... I think there's a fairly obvious problem with that issue!!
Even in the very unlikely event that the defendants are traced, then there's the issue of actually enforcing the CCJs... good luck to the bailiffs with that one!!!”
