CAMBORNE is determined to provide glitter and glitz for shoppers heading for the town centre to do their present buying.

A great deal of voluntary time and effort goes into decorating the main streets with some wonderful lighting displays, designed to enhance the festive atmosphere.

Many of the shops will also have their own Christmas trees which this year are made of lights.

The length of Trelowarren Street will be a glorious Christmas sight – a sparkle of lights to rival the displays of any town in the South West.

Cross Street and Commercial Street will also be lit up, and in the town square will stand a 40ft Christmas tree, which is being sponsored this year by coach firm FT Williams and Rob Buckham, for his new grandson, Charlie Osborne.

Glynis Charlesworth, vice-chairman of Camborne Chamber of Commerce, said: "Camborne is the place to shop this Christmas.

Parade

"We have a fabulous range of shops and the new Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust shop opens early this month."

A special Christmas market, with Santa in attendance, will be held on December 10 and on December 14 there will be the children's lantern parade, involving as many as 1,000 youngsters marching through the town, and there will also be late night shopping.

Mrs Charlesworth added: "Shoppers must come and see the lights. All the shops will also have copies of the Camborne Christmas guide, detailing all the festive events in and around the town."
