Tributes paid to 'greatest' friend
THE DEATH of a 19-year-old former Callington College student is not being treated as suspicious, police have confirmed.
Matthew Tidmarsh, was found dead at an address in Latchley, near Gunnislake, at 3.15pm on Monday.
Police were called to the address after reports of a sudden death.
A spokesman for the force told the Cornish Guardian they were not looking for anyone else in connection with his death.
"It is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared on behalf of the coroner," she said.
Mr Tidmarsh left Callington Community College in 2008 at the end of Year 11.
Head teacher Gary Lobbett said many members of staff taught him and all were deeply saddened to hear of this loss.
"Matthew's younger brother remains part of our college community; this makes the tragedy of Matthew's death all the more salient to us all," he said.
"We shall do all we can possibly do to support Matthew's brother at this extremely difficult time and hold Matthew's family in our thoughts."
His friends have flooded Mr Tidmarsh's page on social networking website Facebook with tributes.
Charlotte Bondy wrote: "I hope you could see how many people love you and how many lives you've touched with your honesty and love. I knew if I had anything I needed a chat about I could talk to you."
Friend Daniel Otter posted a YouTube video of Only Love, by Ben Howard, which he described as Mr Tidmarsh's favourite song.
Mr Otter said his friend was "the greatest human being" and he couldn't stop the tears falling.
"We grew up together, you just couldn't find a better guy," he said. "I couldn't have asked for a better friend. I knew him all 19 years of my life. We went to nursery together, primary school, everything."
Mr Tidmarsh was an Arsenal fan and enjoyed playing football computer games with his friends.
They will be meeting to remember him at the Swingle Tree pub in Kelly Bray at 7.30pm on Friday.
Mr Tidmarsh leaves behind his parents and siblings Kerry and Michael.
An inquest into his death has not yet been opened.
