Troubadour Billy joins the line-up at summer festival
Singer songwriter Billy Bragg has been confirmed for the Saturday main stage at this summer's Chagstock Festival. The Dorset-dwelling troubadour and social activist will have plenty of material old and new to share with the Devon audience – he is releasing his first new studio album in five years, Tooth & Nail, next month. Drawing on personal rather than political themes, the record was created in a whirlwind five-day session with Grammy-winning producer Joe Henry in his South Pasadena basement studio.
"In 2011, I took a long, hard look at who I am and what I do. This album is the result," said Billy.
The family-friendly, 5,000-capacity Chagstock – now in its tenth year – takes place at Whiddon Down, West Devon on July 19 and 20 over two main stages.
Headliners are still to be announced, but the line-up already boasts newly crowned Radio 2 Folk Awards Best Duo winners Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman, Wille and the Bandits, Marc O'Reilly, Brother and Bones, Ferocious Dog, The Aurora Skies, Crazy Arm and New Crisis.
