Illogan Park 3 St Agnes 24
Leaders St Agnes ground out a solid Tribute Cornwall 2 win – their 11th of the season – despite being without their influential captain, Rob Jeffries (on safari) and top try scorer Matt Sargent (injured).
An opportunist try inside the first five minutes from lock Sam Sargent did the visitors no favours as they seemed to sit back on a very slender 7-0 lead.
Park stormed into the attack and reduced the deficit with a penalty on 20 minutes from their fullback.
From then on St Agnes looked the more likely side to bother the scoreboard, but littered their frequent attacks with far too many minor infringements.
Just on 40 minutes St Agnes scrum-half Rob Sapsford put man of the match Andy Deacon in for the first of his brace of tries with a deft inside pass to make it 12-3 at half time.
Deacon scored again early in the second half to stretch the visitors' lead, with Buster Knights also going over for a converted try.
It was an average performance from the league leaders with no tries against, but one that will have to be improved upon if they are to overcome second-placed Perranporth in this Saturday's north coast derby game at Enys Parc (2.30pm kick-off).

PERRANPORTH LADIES:
On Saturday 16 competitors took part when Perranporth Golf Club Ladies' Section played a medal competition in very much calmer conditions.
In the Silver division Micah Carroll returned a very good score of net 69 to win this division with Jan Sargeant scoring a net 75 to come second.
In the Bronze section, Jacqui Lang came first with another good score of net 71 with Liz Gillman taking second in this division with a net 80.
WINTER LEAGUE:
In fine form at Perranporth on Saturday, David Hunt and Tim Dunn won the Perranporth Winter League with 42 points over 15 holes to finish four clear of the field of 68.
Runners-up were Mike Elliott and Nick Winfield on 38, followed by Martin Edwards and Peter Tunnicliffe on 37.
Countback over the last six holes separated three pairs on 36, Gary Faraway and Brian Rogers (17) finishing ahead of Derek Wraight and Chris Johnson (16) and Ray Schofield and Connor Spark.
TRURO LOSE THRILLER:
Truro were beaten 3-2 in a thrilling Mail on Sunday Classic first round match at Budock Vean on Saturday.
Good wins by Grant Champion and Simon Bray got Truro off to a good start but the home club then won the next two matches to level the scores at 2-2.
The overall result depended on the match between Truro's Darren Murrish and Stephen Penrose and it all came down to the last putt on the last green.
Murrish, playing the last one down, hit a fine tee shot, across the valley, on the 150 yard par 3 last but his opponent held his nerve to find the green himself before lagging his putt for a "gimme" par which Murrish could not better, leaving Penrose the winner and thus securing a 3-2 win for Budock Vean.
Other result: Men's Winter League: 1 Simon Maker 38; 2 John Yeates 37; 3 Terry Bennetts 36.
CLASSIC SUCCESS:
Killiow Ladies faced Porthpean away in the first round of the Mail on Sunday Classic at the weekend.
In a very closely fought contest, which was played in atrocious weather, it was all square at the end of the five matches.
Gill Tregay, as the last Killiow player, therefore had to continue her match against Porthpean's Bev Adams and won on the 20th hole thereby securing a narrow away victory for the Killiow team.
Geraldine Hyslop and Tim Cook won Sunday's Mixed Greensomes with a score of 38 points, just one point ahead of Carol and Paul Davis in second place with 37 points. Hilary Pryor and Richard Atkinson were third with 35.

COLTS SCRAPE HOME:
Truro Colts 10 Newquay Colts 7
Truro put in a low key performance but still managed to win a Cornwall League game they could easily have lost if their opponents had taken their chances.
The home opened up strongly and took an early 10 point lead through tries by captain Ollie Seagrove and winger, Luke Dahaan. That was just about it for the home side as they allowed Newquay back into the game but the city club maintained a strong defence and to still lead 10-0 at half time. Newquay then threw everything at the home side and midway through the second half, they managed a converted try to close in to 10-7.
The match was in the balance until the final whistle and Truro's strong defence held out.
Squad: O Seagrove (captain), J Innard, R Bull, O Bush, N Julief, A Wright, R Mercer, J Reed, T Griffiths, J Skuse, L Rhodes, J Townrow, H Murrell, L Deeman, H Watling, F Lawry, G Hudson, J McAhy, J Twist. Truro are fixtured against Redruth (home) next week on Saturday, but the game is in doubt due to Redruth playing the next day in the National U19 Cup.

GOOD DRAW FOR TRURO:
With the addition of Carl Templeton, Truro & District Pool League drew their first home Inter League game of the 2012 season.
Playing against Interpub (Bodmin), one of the title favourites, and whose team had no fewer than eight Cornwall players, Truro did well to draw 18 frames to 18 at their new venue, St Rumons in Redruth.
Truro, under their new captain Rod Burrows, started brightly winning the first session seven frames to two and carried that winning vein on into the second session with a 5-4 scoreline.
The third session saw Interpub's class and they ran out the easy 8-1 winners which meant that Truro were 1 frame down going in to the last session in which was even at 4-4 and meant that Truro had to win the last frame for the draw.
Ian Penfold did not buckle under the pressure and made sure that he gave Truro a well deserved point.
Congratulations to Mark Berry, Paul Lord, George Boyd and Ian Penfold for getting three frames out of four.

CHACEWATER'S RUN ENDED:
Halsetown 5 Chacewater 1
Chacewater's recent good form in which they had been unbeaten for two months counted for nothing at St Ives Rugby Club as Halsetown's physical approach and Chacewater's woeful defensive display combined to send the visitors to a fourth Trelawny League Division 1 defeat of the season.
Playing down the slope, Chacewater were quick to settle and Brendan Hitchens caused the home defence early problems. In the seventh minute, however, poor marking from a Halsetown attack which was switched to the left resulted in the hosts taking the lead.
Craig Hitchens had a strong penalty claim turned down and John Dunstan drove just wide. Disaster struck on the half hour when a corner went straight in off the far post and soon after Scott Gilbert's pass back looped over Darren Bennetts.
Chacewater started the second half well but after ten minutes, a corner was headed down and volleyed in and on the hour it was 5-0 as the Halsetown player was given time to control the ball and fire into the net.
Brendan Hitchens did pull a goal back after 75 minutes with a lob over the home keeper but Chacewater finished well beaten on the day.

PYTHONS STAY AHEAD:
Truro City Pythons U10s 4 Falmouth Utd 1
With two games in hand, Falmouth had the chance to close the six point gap on league leaders Truro in this eagerly awaited league fixture.
Truro started strongly and pressed Falmouth from the start and passing the ball confidently using the full width of the pitch to allow wingers Ollie Hutchinson & Nathan Keevil space to run at the Falmouth defence.
Great link up play between man of the match Alex Lean, captain Dom Sidwell and in-form striker Sam Legg gave Truro the first goal of the game.
Truro continued to apply pressure and didn't allow Falmouth to settle on the ball.
The second goal followed from Ollie Hutchinson, soon to be followed by a third as his shot was deflected into the Falmouth net.
Falmouth looked threatening at times when they had possession but they struggled to break through the Truro defence of Alex Lean, Toby Cleghorn and goalie Jake Singleton.
A fourth goal from Truro's Nathan Keevil was the perfect way to end the first half for the away side.
The second half started better for Falmouth who got a goal back from a corner which boosted their confidence and they looked more threatening as they got back into the game.
Solid second half performances from Charlie Rogers, Joshua Olds, Liam Wilson and Perry Oakes kept the score at 4-1 to give Truro a well earned victory.
Truro City Lions U 12s 11 Bodmin Town 1
Truro entertained Bodmin Town at Malpas on Sunday and put in a very impressive team performance against a good Bodmin side with a big reputation from the East Cornwall League.
It was Rafi Rothwell who applied the early pressure and slid a pin point ball through for Harry Roberts to finish into the top corner after only two minutes.
Rafi then linking well with Jack Loader who found Jay Davie and he wriggled his way through the box scored from the tightest of angles to make it 2-0.
Then after some strong work by Harry he set young Theo Simpson free down the line and his first time thunderous shot flew into the top corner.
Truro were running riot when Jack Loader spread the play for Theo Simpson to score his second almost identical to his first.
He then set up Kieran Head for a fine poacher's finish before Bodmin hit back with a goal as Truro led 5-1 at half time.
Bodmin started the half well with some fine passing but when Dylan Halford got hold the ball his exquisite first touch set up Jay to outpace Bodmin and score their sixth goal.
Kieran had some good touches and strong running from Jay to set up Archie for number seven.
Archie then ran at the defence and a good one two set up the hard working Jacob Trudgeon to fire home.
Harry and Theo linked well for the lethal Trudgeon to bag his second. Further goals followed from Dylan Halford and Trudgeon to finish the scoring man of the match couldn't be decided as the whole team were outstanding.
