Truro Lions Club host over 80 senior citizens
OLDER people from Truro were treated to an afternoon of entertainment courtesy of the Truro Lions' Club.
More than 80 senior citizens enjoyed tea and musical performances at Carnon Downs Village Hall on Saturday afternoon.
Truro Lions' Club president Keith Wellington said: "Fortunately for us everything ran like clockwork and we received some great comments during and after the event.
"The hall was very full with over 80 senior citizens and 30 helpers all packed in."
The guests were able to enjoy the afternoon free of charge, thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Lions' Club, which sold bacon sandwiches during December's late night shopping evenings.
The afternoon started with a performance from mixed choir Amici Voci, followed by Ray Gajardo on the guitar after a brief break for refreshments.
The afternoon concluded with a free raffle and Mr Wellington is confident of another good turnout next year.
He said: "This year was our 25th year holding the event and with such a great number of senior citizens joining us every year, there's no way we'd get away with stopping it now."
