Truro Primestock Show brings farming to the city centre
Farming came to the heart of Truro today as the Truro Primestock Show returned to the city centre.
Visitors to the event on Lemon Quay were able to see the best of Cornwall's prime cattle and sheep at first hand. Farm produce, preserves, floral art, baked goods, photography, crafts and a host of other exhibits were also on show at the free event.
The show is believed to be the only primestock show in Britain to be held in the centre of a city, giving people a unique chance to experience farming and the countryside within a few yards of Truro's major shops.
The marquee was open to the public from 9.30am, with judging taking place throughout the morning.

In the afternoon cattle and sheep were auctioned off and a fundraising auction also took place.
Paul Gluyas, the show's president, said the event had proved a huge success so far.
"By 10am there were masses of people, which was brilliant," he said. "That's what it's all about."
He added that, while people might often drive past sheep and cattle in fields, the show gave them a chance to see them at much closer quarters and find out more about where their food comes from
"This is a brilliant city location, and it's free to come in," he said.
The show will continue into the evening as part of Truro's late night shopping, with events including the Young Handlers competition at 6:30pm. This will see young people from local farms displaying their skills at leading and handling beef and dairy cows in the main ring.
The evening will finish at 8pm with a charity auction when many of the exhibits of vegetables, cakes, preserves, eggs and produce will be auctioned in aid of the chairman's chosen charity.
