Turning £50 into £500
LAST month the Cornwall Blind Association raised £2,800 through its inaugural Take £50 Challenge to support those isolated in their homes.
The association's 'befriending project' sees volunteers from the association becoming 'befrienders' and visiting those affected in their homes.
To complete the challenge, local businesses were given £50 with the task of turning it into £500 within 50 days.
Specsavers branches throughout Cornwall and the St Austell branch of Stephens Scown solicitors held raffles, auctions, cake bakes and quizzes in an attempt to raise the £500 target.
