A PAIR of singing sisters are launching a new album to help raise money for a Cornish charity.

Twins Jenna and Morwenna Matthews are hoping their dulcet tones will tot up thousands of pounds for the Robert Johns Leukaemia Fund (RJLF).

This is the second time the Heamoor performers have released a charity album, after selling nearly 1,000 copies in aid of the Precious Lives Appeal.

"RJLF is only a small charity and we thought it would be nice to support an organisation that is based in Cornwall and doesn't necessarily get a lot of publicity," said 27-year-old Morwenna.

"We know that all the money raised is going directly into research."

The CD was recorded throughout the past year by a retired BBC sound engineer based in Lelant.

Entitled As Long As We Have Music, it is full of everything from pop hits to traditional gospel melodies.

Jenna and Morwenna are well known for performing as a duo as well as with their parents, Kath on piano and John on drums, under the guise of The Matthews Family.

The CD is available now, priced £8 with all proceeds going to RJLF.

The charity was formed in 1983 in memory of Robert Johns, who fought the disease for five years but lost his battle aged 11.

Throughout his illness he was treated at Freedom Fields Hospital, Plymouth, now moved to Derriford Hospital, and the Royal Marsden Hospital in Surrey. Money raised by the fund is divided between these two centres.
