Twins dig in to start work on £1.8m project at Chulmleigh Community College
Youngsters and members of the wider community are set to benefit from a new building project at a Devon secondary school.
Work has begun on the £1.8 million building at Chulmleigh Community College, which will provide facilities for drama, music, science, modern foreign languages, and humanities lessons.
Year 7 twins Andrea and Nicholas Robinson, whose favourite subjects are art and drama respectively and who will be among the first to benefit from the new facilities, cut the turf to mark the start of the building work.
Devon Contractors and the students were joined at the site by Nick Harvey MP, as well as local councillors from Burrington, Winkleigh, High Bickington and Chulmleigh Parish Councils, all of whom have supported the new facility.

Headteacher Mike Johnson said "I'm delighted to be working with Devon Contractors with this exciting new project. This building will help us raise our standards even further and will provide students and staff with accommodation fit for the 21st century."
The two-storey building will be ready for pupils to use from next summer. It has also been supported by the Chulmleigh Academy Trust and Architects/Project Managers Oxenham Consult.
Shaun Bennington, Devon Contractors' financial director, said: "The new building offers Devon Contractors the opportunity to contribute to a rural school which is right at the heart of a strong local community, helping to safeguard the future of them both.
"We are all looking forward to working with the community on this project who have already been incredibly supportive of our work, going out of their way to offer help and advice."
North Devon MP Nick Harvey, said "I am delighted that Chulmleigh Community School have been able to secure funding for this project: Chulmleigh was awarded one of the largest sums nationally under the Academy Capital Maintenance Fund bid which has enabled this project to go ahead."
