From award-winning cider to Cornish biscuits, the best of the South West's food and drink will be on show in London next week.

The 2010 Speciality and Fine Food Fair at Olympia will include a Taste of the West pavilion, showcasing the region's produce. Exhibitors hope to attract the attention of buyers from top stores including Fortnum and Mason, Harvey Nichols and Harrods. The exhibition is the country's largest food trade show for top-quality produce.

Among the companies taking part will be Luscombe Organics, maker of fruit juices from Buckfastleigh, south Devon, which will be showing a range of 16 premium soft drinks.

Company director Gabriel David said: "Over the past 12 months demand for sophisticated soft drink alternatives to alcohol has grown considerably. "

Furniss of Cornwall is making the journey up from Redruth and aim to bring a traditional taste of Cornwall to the show, said head of marketing Mark Muncey.

"All of our biscuits, from fairings to shortbread, use the finest quality local ingredients wherever possible, exactly as they would have done more than 100 years ago," said Mr Muncey.

"We hope to win many contracts to supply our biscuits nationally and beyond."

Other exhibitors include Sheppy's Cider of Taunton, Lyme Bay Winery of Axminster, chocolate makers House of Dorchester and Forest Products of Bridport.

John Sheaves, chief executive of Taste of the West, said: "The Taste of the West pavilion is a major opportunity for Westcountry companies to come together in one dedicated area to promote themselves to a large and expanding market.

"There is increasing consumer demand for quality food and drink from the South West, which is without doubt the UK's foremost food producing region."

The 2010 Speciality and Fine Food Fair takes place at Olympia, London, from Sunday September 5 to Tuesday September 7.
