UPDATE: Retirement and sheltered housing flats flood in Penzance
A retirement and sheltered housing block in Penzance suffered flooding on Monday night, as a flat and communal areas were left damaged.
Initial reports said that three flats were damaged by the water and that some carpets were left ruined, however following a further inspection and clean up it is confirmed that only one flat was affected and the carpets only suffered minor problems.
Penzance Fire Station was called to Cherry Gardens on New Street at around 6.00pm on Monday evening after a boiler pipe burst, which left rooms sodden and water going down the lift shaft.
A fire truck attended the scene and managed to isolate the water supply, assisting with the residents' clear up afterwards.
