'Unbelievable mail mess left me in tears'
A MEVAGISSEY woman whose family's Christmas presents were lost in the post is still waiting for compensation from Royal Mail six months later.
Evija Macpane, from Valley Road, said she posted gifts worth £200 to her family in Latvia, including her four-year-old niece, in December at a cost of £60.
When her family told her they hadn't arrived, she and her partner had to replace them – and fly out to make sure they were delivered.
Miss Macpane said she sent off a claims form with all her original store receipts and proofs of postage to a Royal Mail centre in Stoke-on-Trent in February – but when she heard nothing and called to check, Royal Mail told her it was never received.

She then sent another two claims forms in April – one for the original Christmas presents parcel and another for the missing claims form.
Miss Macpane, 33, said she sent these recorded delivery and saw that they had been signed for, but when she called up this week Royal Mail again said it had no knowledge of any claims forms from her.
"This is just unbelievable - it's been going on for six months," said Miss Macpane, who works at the Sharksfin Bar and Restaurant.
"It's been very stressful, and they just keep passing me from one phone number to another. I've been in tears over it. It feels like I'm fighting a losing battle and I don't know what to do next."
Parcelforce Worldwide spokeswoman Val Bodden said: "We are currently investigating Miss Macpane's claim regarding her undelivered parcel to Latvia and we will be in touch with her again as soon as possible."
