VIDEO: Graffiti defaced Camborne headstone angers vicar
Vandals have defaced a church monument in Camborne causing more than £1000 damage spraying bright red paint over a headstone.
Fuming Reverend Mike Firbank said it is the second time that the headstone had been daubed with the unsightly graffiti leaving them with a hefty clean-up bill to repair the damage.
He said: “The word ‘why’ had been sprayed over the headstone in black paint. We had only just had the paint removed and were preparing to have the letters re-chiseled and painted when someone sprayed the word 'why' in red paint over the headstone.”
The graffiti appeared sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning (OCT 5/6) at Camborne parish church and has been reported to the police.

Reverend Firbank added: “I have seen the word why sprayed in black and red on buildings and alleyways around the town. I have no idea if it is the same person responsible for the damage to the headstone.
“This is an important monument that faces the road for all to see. It has already cost us £200 to clean off the black paint. This will cost that again plus £20 per letter to have the stone cleaned and repaired. It is shocking. I deal with many vulnerable people but this has stepped over the line and is so unnecessary.”
